EngHack starts at 2:00pm today. We recommend you arrive between 1:30pm and 2:00pm to set up your workstations and environment, as well look for team members if you don't have any yet. The opening ceremonies start at 2:15pm sharp, so please do your best to arrive before 2:00pm.

Where

EngHack is taking place at the University of Waterloo, in the E5 LiveLink rooms. The room number is 3101/3102. If you're unfamiliar with E5, the best way to get to LiveLink is to enter E5 through the main doors facing ring road and walk up 1 flight of stairs (the elevators are painfully slow, so don't take those). After the stairs, make a u-turn and walk past the bathrooms toward the front of the building, then hang a left. We'll have signs up so you don't get lost.

When

I've attached a schedule so you can see when everything is. The event officially begins at 2:00pm today, and will end at 3:30pm on Sunday. EngHack runs through the night, but you are welcome to leave and go home to sleep during the event.

What to Bring

Its important that you bring innovative hacking ideas, a competitive yet friendly spirit, creativity, motivation, and a willingness to learn. Yes, EngHack is a competitive event, and yes, there are prizes. However, the one thing we love to see more than anything else is growth. If you've never been to a hackathon before, we're glad you chose this hackathon to get started at!

What Else to Bring

Bring your computer (hopefully a laptop, but I've seen some desktops) and power cable. You may also want to bring some of the following: ethernet cable, external mouse/keyboard, extra monitor. We will be providing drinks and coffee, but if you're someone who will be drinking coffee all night, we recommend that you bring your own coffee maker or kettle, as we don't have an unlimited amount.

What Else Else to Bring

Bring whatever helps you work most efficiently! Is that earbuds or huge headphones? Is it a whiteboard? Is it a bunch of snacks?

What Not to Bring

Don't worry about bringing food. We will provide 4 meals, and snacks throughout the event. You are allowed to bring your own food if you want, however, and you are permitted to leave to purchase food if you want something specific.

Teams

Teams can be 1 to 4 people (or larger, but you won't be eligible for prizes). If you aren't an engineering student, you must have at least 1 engineering student on your team.   Payment: Please double-check that you've paid for the event. If you've let me know that you'd rather pay at the door, make sure and bring $5 (engineering student) or $10 (non-engineering student) in cash. We do not accept debit or credit at the door.
